VILLAGE DESIGN STATEMENT.

 

A Village Design Statement (VDS) has now been completed, and is available to view on this website. A Village Design Statement Group, made up of local residents and representatives of the Parish Council, has been working for over two years, under the Chairmanship of Phil Mead, to produce the document, which will help to shape the way Hassocks develops in future. Public meetings and workshops were held to gather the views of local residents, which have been incorporated into the Statement. A Supplementary Planning Document also had to be produced and this has now been adopted by Mid Sussex District Council (the local planning authority) as Supplementary Planning Guidance, which means that it will have to be taken account of in determining planning applications in the village. Copies of the VDS are being printed, and will be available for reference soon in the Parish Centre and Library.

TENNIS COURTS

The Parish Council has three tennis courts in Adastra Park which are available for public booking.

To encourage more use of the courts the booking arrangements have been changed and courts can now be booked through the Hassocks Pet Centre

The charges are £6 per hour per court for adults and £3 per hour for juniors (under 17).  There is a £5 key deposit charge which is refunded when the key is returned.

The Parish council have agreed funding to provide mobile refuse collections in 2008/9. These will take place on the following dates:-

SUNDAY 11th MAY

11.00 am – 12.00 noon –       Dale Avenue (Orion) Car Park

SUNDAY 15th JUNE

11.00 am – 12.00 noon  -           Belmont Close

SUNDAY 17th AUGUST

SUNDAY 9th NOVEMBER

New Health & Safety procedures have recently been put in place and as a result of these the Parklands Road collections will no longer take place.
