VILLAGE DESIGN STATEMENT
A Village Design
Statement (VDS) has now been completed, and is available to view on this
website. A Village Design Statement Group, made up of local residents and
representatives of the Parish Council, has been working for over two years,
under the Chairmanship of Phil Mead, to produce the document, which will help
to shape the way Hassocks develops in future. Public meetings and workshops
were held to gather the views of local residents, which have been incorporated
into the Statement. A Supplementary Planning Document also had to be produced
and this has now been adopted by Mid Sussex District Council (the local
planning authority) as Supplementary Planning Guidance, which means that it
will have to be taken account of in determining planning applications in the
village. Copies of the VDS have been printed, and are available for
reference in the Parish Centre and Library.
